Under The Mistletoe Workshop with Nimble Thimbles
Nimble Thimbles Quilt Guild is sponsoring a class with Diane (Knott) Vandiver in January 13, 2025. The class will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church in Mauldin.
"Learn the techniques for paper piecing and sewing curves for excellent results every time! Find out for yourself that curves are NOT scary! Suitable for confident beginners through advanced quilters. Table runner version is the featured project in this workshop that covers basic 'flip & sew' paper piecing as well as template sewing. Handouts are included, pattern purchase is required." The photo shows Christmas-like colors, but this would look good in reproduction fabrics, Aunt Grace...even neon! We will need 20 class participants for this workshop, so sign up with friends. Cost will be $40 (plus your pattern purchase). Class starts at 9:30 at the Messiah Lutheran Gym. We'll take a lunch break, so bring your lunch or go out to get a bite!
Please be prepared to pay for the pattern on the day of the event, if you don’t already have it.
That evening, at the Nimble Thimbles Guild meeting, Diane will give a program called "Celebrate with Quilts" . She will share how and why she makes quilts to celebrate any occasion and how we can make more quilts with less stress. This trunk show features her newest quilts as well as many of her favorites.

Program: Scrappiness - How to Manage and Use Your Scraps
If you call yourself a quilter, then you likely have a big bunch of scraps in baskets, bags, drawers, etc. Veronica will talk about simple ways to manage those leftover fabrics such that when you are in the mood to make something, the pieces are ready and waiting for you. She will bring a wide variety of sample blocks and quilts made using scraps accrued over her 35+ years of quiltmaking, along with the most useful books and websites to help you in your scrap management.

Program: Sabrina Myers Presents “Doodling On My Bulletin”
Sabrina has been sewing most of her life but started quilting 40 years ago with the birth of her first child. Sabrina recalls she has always been a doodler, coloring in the O’s and the E’s on her church bulletin every Sunday. Her Dad said “At least it kept her quiet”. Sabrina will present some of her doodles and the art pieces that came from them. She will also share where she gets other inspiration for her pieces. Come hear her fun program and leave inspired.

Due to the Fountain Inn Activity Center housing the out of town first responders here to assist with cleanup of our community after Tropical Storm Helene, the Activity Center has been closed to the public and events until October 14.

Carole Carter “Scrap Dance”
How many scraps of material have you saved? Do you have uneven pieces from cutting, partial yard leftovers, old clothes you can’t stand to give away because of the fabric or pretty embroidery, bits and pieces of this and that. Have you ever said any, or all of those things? There is a way to use those scraps, but there are a few things you need to know. Come hear Carole’s lecture on August 13!
Carole writes a quilting and lifestyle blog called From My Carolina Home, encompassing her many interstate's including quilting, sewing, crafting, cooking, gardening and more. Her quilts have won awards at the NC State Fair and the Wester Carolina Quilt Guild, and have been shown in the juried American Quilting Society show in Charlotte, and the Mancuso MidAtlantic Wearable Arts Show. Carole is the pattern designer of the Scrap Dance series, does and annual mystery quilt along, the annual October event of Autumn Jubilee, and patterns for Moda Bake Shop and Fat Quarter Shop. She has two pattern published in Quilt and More Magazine.

Program: Lynn Christiansen of Emerald Falls Quilts. Lynn is a passionate quilt designer whose creativity is fueled by the rich tapestry of her travels. Lynn will be giving us a lecture and trunk show on Laura Heine Collage Quilts. We will be learning about choosing fabrics, the best type of fusible, the best techniques and her favorite tools to make an amazing quilt. Lynn is a Laura Heine certified instructor and her program includes doing things the Laura Heine way.
