Guild Meeting August 13, 2024 - Guest Speaker

Carole Carter “Scrap Dance”

How many scraps of material have you saved? Do you have uneven pieces from cutting, partial yard leftovers, old clothes you can’t stand to give away because of the fabric or pretty embroidery, bits and pieces of this and that. Have you ever said any, or all of those things? There is a way to use those scraps, but there are a few things you need to know. Come hear Carole’s lecture on August 13!

Carole writes a quilting and lifestyle blog called From My Carolina Home, encompassing her many interstate's including quilting, sewing, crafting, cooking, gardening and more. Her quilts have won awards at the NC State Fair and the Wester Carolina Quilt Guild, and have been shown in the juried American Quilting Society show in Charlotte, and the Mancuso MidAtlantic Wearable Arts Show. Carole is the pattern designer of the Scrap Dance series, does and annual mystery quilt along, the annual October event of Autumn Jubilee, and patterns for Moda Bake Shop and Fat Quarter Shop. She has two pattern published in Quilt and More Magazine.

Guild Meeting October 8, 2024

Program: Jennifer McCalanhan of Sweet Tea Pattern Co.

Meet at Fountain Inn Activity Center - Community Room

Jennifer McClanahan from Sweet Tea Pattern Co.

Jennifer will be giving a trunk show and speaking on “How to make a Modern Quilt Traditional and a Traditional Quilt Modern”

Jennifer is a Pattern Designer, a mother of 3 amazing children, a loving wife and a grandmother.

Jennifer spent the majority of her childhood in beautiful Southern Indiana, always doing something creative. Growing up Jennifer was surrounded by multiple generations of sewers including a grandmother who is still quilting away in her 90’s. A few years of graduating she married her high school sweetheart, left Indiana and traveled the world with her Navy husband and kiddos. She credits her world travels for expanding her creativity and influencing her modern aesthetic and bold style.

After Jennifer’s hubby retired from the Navy the opportunity to create Sweet Tea Pattern co. presented itself and she rose to the challenge. Jennifer feels blessed and lucky that she can spend her days in her studio doing what she loves - creating, sewing and quilting.

When Jennifer is not in her studio, you can find her binge-watching reality TV, playing games with her family and hanging out with her grandkids.

Guild Meeting March, 2024 - Guest Speaker

Guest Speaker this month will be Emma Jane Powell of “Dream It Quilt It”

After 3 decades of quilting I have narrowed down my style to three staples: vintage, scrappy and repurposed. You will find one or all three of those elements in any of my quilt designs. Seeing my passion for quilting reflected in a student’s work is truly an honor.

In conjunction with Nimble Thimbles and Busy Bees Quilt Guild, Emma will present a workshop on Free Motion Quilting from 12p - 4p on March 11, followed by a lecture at the Nimble Thimbles Monthly meeting, entitled “Works In Progress No More”.

Emma will be our BBQG guest lecturer the following day, on March 12 at 1:00PM. The lecture will be on “Appilleras”, a craft born during the Chilean dictatorship of the 1970’s - 90’s. Learn a little about history, politics and art of South America during this very captivating time.
